Local Honey is a band made up of not-so-new musicians. Each member has over 20 years gigging experience, some with bands that you might have seen playing out. Dirk Alexander (lead vocals/guitar) cut his teeth with Jersey rock band Tracer and has been in Revolution Rewind and Rockit Fish among others. Andy Zampella (lead vocals/drums) has played with many local bands including Philly/NJ rock band Dive and country artist Scott DeCarlo. Jon “Huey” Tatlow (lead vocals/bass) has played in too many projects and bands to list here but you can see him currently playing in Peanut Butter Bridges and The Bell Bottom Blues (The Live Eric Clapton Experience Show).

Unlike most bands, there is no one front-man in Local Honey. All three members swap lead and backing vocals and many songs feature two or even three-part harmonies. It’s not uncommon to hear people at their gigs exclaim, “I can’t believe they played that!”, or “I haven’t heard that song in years!” Through hours of back-and-forth behind the scenes conversations (and maybe a few cocktails), they’ll come up with songs that they want to play and that will psych up the crowd. There is no one genre that could define Local Honey. They’ve been known to cover various artists, from Clapton to Wings, from the Beatles to Tears for Fears.

Andy, Dirk and Huey have mostly been “replacement” players for the past few years in bands, they usually step into a situation and need to learn 50+ songs for a band… Local Honey was born on the idea of playing songs that most of the bands they were in didn’t play. Since they keep their genres limits at bay we play songs that we love to listen to... the litmus test for a song to make it into our set list is, play it well in our three piece while still respecting its original foundation…

Local Honey will constantly surprise audiences with an eclectic mix of styles and tastes that will leave people wanting to come back for more.
